Market Development History
Prior to 2010, most sealing in the region was manual and makeshift, using scrap rubber or heavy fabric to block gaps. These methods offered minimal protection against the sandy winds typical of the Sahelian influence in the region.
Between 2010 and 2020, the introduction of standardized PVC strips marked the first wave of modernization. However, these materials often warped under the intense Gambian sun, leading to a high replacement rate for sliding door sweeps in residential projects.
From 2020 to the present, there has been a transition toward "smart" mechanical seals. The adoption of the automatic door sealing strip has begun to grow in high-end hotels and corporate offices, moving away from static seals toward dynamic systems that activate only upon closing.
