Market Development History
Prior to 2010, the Zimbabwean market primarily utilized basic foam and felt strips. These materials provided minimal protection and degraded quickly under the tropical sun, offering very little in terms of actual air-tightness or pest control.
Between 2011 and 2018, there was a transition toward EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) rubber. This era saw the introduction of the first specialized automatic door sealing strip designs, which allowed for better compression and recovery cycles in industrial warehouses.
From 2019 to the present, the focus has shifted toward "Smart Sealing." The integration of reinforced TPE and silicone composites has allowed for seals that maintain flexibility at low winter temperatures in the highlands while resisting deformation during peak summer heat.
Future Development Trends
Nano-Composite Material Integration
We anticipate a move toward rubber compounds infused with nano-silica to enhance abrasion resistance and UV stability, specifically for the rugged terrains of Zimbabwe.
Automated Adaptive Sealing
The trend is moving toward sensors and actuators that adjust the seal pressure based on real-time wind speed and pressure differentials outside the building.
