While American bed sizes have remained fixed, there are no standard mattress depths. As a general rule, our fitted sheets have a gusset (AKA “pocket size” or “pocket depth”) that will fit mattresses up to 17” deep with enough room to tuck under the mattress. However, most of our purveyors accommodate custom orders for deeper or thinner sizes.
Polycotton sheets or 'easy care' sheets are made with a blend of man-made polyester (a type of plastic) and cotton. Polycotton bed linen is generally cheap to buy and easy to care for. It dries quickly and doesn't require much ironing.
Cotton and cotton blends dominate the market, the most common blend being cotton/polyester. Cotton provides absorbency and a soft hand, while polyester adds durability and wrinkle resistance.[2] Other common fibers used in the manufacturing of bed sheets include linen, silk, Modal and bamboo rayon, lyocell, Microtex or Microfiber, and polypropylene. Polypropylene (olefin) is a hypoallergenic spun-bound material produced at a low cost and typically used in emergency shelters or hospitals as disposable sheeting.
